If you only knew of the tastings, tweakings and sacrifices that we have gone through over the last few weeks in order to get these pies up and running for National Pie Week, well...you probably wouldn't feel any sympathy at all.
But it's a tough job, someone has to do it and we did it. The Turner & George DIY Pies are now live on the website, albeit on a limited run; so if you want to get your hands on a kit, we suggest you move fast.
At present, we have two options - the T&G Cow Pie and the T&G Chicken and Bacon Pie - and deciding which one is our favourite is like asking us to chose a favourite child.
The mighty and beefy Cow Pie certainly packs a punch, with it's heady combination of chuck, oxtail and cheek. And the addition of a bone marrow 'chimney' (the contents of which slowly melt and ooze into the gravy on cooking) really lends a luxuriantly rich and silky touch to proceedings.
However, the Chicken and Bacon Pie is also pretty damn flavoursome too. Cream, sherry and a compliment of herbs provide the backbone, but the mushrooms and shallots do a lot of heavy lifting too. Plus it contains smokey lardons of porcine joy and what dish is not improved by the addition of bacon?
Yes, the copy in this blog post is all rather superlative and a touch over the top, we know. If we could have employed one of those voice-over artists, the type with a really deep, American accent, then we would have done.
Sadly, we ran of out time and we are just very excited about our new pastry based products. Saying that, we do have a very good video that will show you exactly what it is all about.
In order to meet the next deadline of delivery for this Saturday, please do place your order as soon as you can.
Because the clock, as always, is ticking.
